Please support Andy Moylan to realise his dream of supporting the Gibaso village, situated on the northwest of the Serengeti, Tanzania to have fresh drinking water.

Gibaso has a population of approximately 1500 people that live without fresh water and without electricity. Their only source of polluted water comes from the Mara River. This water is unsuitable to drink during the wildebeest migration resulting from animal deaths contaminating their only source of water.

In September 2011, Andy will attempt to trek Mount Kilimanjaro, completely self funded to raise money for the Tuende Pamoja Charity, which translates from Kiswahili as, “let’s move forward together”. All funds raised will go directly toward the end goal of installing a hand pump for all villagers to access year round fresh drinking water. This will require a hydrological survey to locate the groundwater to ensure successful drilling of a bore and placement of the hand pump.

The pristine waters of Ningaloo Marine Park provide the perfect environment for participants to immerse themselves in 5 days discussion on a range of issues and challenges facing industry and research groups globally.

The group will comprise international explorers and researchers from major and junior mining companies, consultants and researchers.

Daily discussions will focus on the following five themes:

• Ore systems analysis
• Exploration under cover
• Numerical modelling in exploration
• Collaboration and funding
• Effective delivery of research outcomes to the exploration community

The outcome will be a discussion paper collecting the thematic analysis into a single document.

The Golden Pride Children's Choir has its origins in a remote area of Tanzania, East Africa. In 1998 the first major gold mining operation in Tanzania, the Golden Pride Project, began operations in Nzega District, Tanzania. In mid 1998 a secluded primary school called Isanga was stumbled upon. The school was equipped with one teacher and 53 students, two mud brick rooms, no desks, books, water, electricity, windows or doors but it symbolised an innate desire to learn.

From a modest beginning of 20 students and in the absence of uniforms, shoes or socks, these children began singing their way toward a brighter future. Two additional village schools formed choirs; Lusu Primary and Bujulu Primary.

In 2003, the three school choirs came together to form the Golden Pride Children's Choir. Forty-six in number, they sang home grown songs about their environment, experiences, hopes for the future and their joy of being Tanzanian.

The choir teachers, one from each school, were responsible for the lyrics, melodies and harmonies and together they have merged their genius into one, resulting in an experience of traditional choral pleasure.

In 2003 the choir was professionally recorded and their first CD "Mapambano" was produced along with a promotional video.

Following positive feedback on the quality of the choir, a copy of the CD and video was sent to WOMAD (www.womad.org) in the UK, who booked the Choir to sing at the WOMAD Festival of World Music at Reading UK, in July 2004. The WOMAD Festival attracts a crowd of approximately 80,000 people.

Words can not explain the joy and fulfilment sharing in creating this dream. Our team were genuinely humbled and honoured to be involved in this project. We continue to support the children in the choir with their education.

On January 15th 2003, Warren and Hamisi began their ascent to become the first physically challenged team to climb to the 5,895m summit of Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, east Africa. Living with a disability in Australia is one thing. Living with a disability in rural Tanzania is an entirely different prospect. Hamisi faced similar though markedly different challenges to Warren whilst on the mountain.

The motivation for the climb was to create awareness of the potential for people living with a disability. It also sought to support the development of a Centre for the Physically and Mentally Handicapped in Nzega. The funding for the Centre was through Golden Pride Project (100% Resolute Tanzania Limited). The Golden Pride Project is a socially and environmentally responsible gold mine operation based in Tanzania.

Through this project 50 children’s wheelchairs were donated to the Centre for distribution. “Wheelchairs for Kids” is a joint project of the Rotary Club of Scarborough and the Christian Brothers based in Western Australia. Every $A100.00 donated will purchase the materials for and provide a child with a wheelchair. Check out: www.wheelchairsforkids.org

Hamisi is currently sponsored to attend Uchama Secondary School, Nzega by Discovery Learning.

He is 19 years old and his dream is to go on to study medicine. This climb has played an enormous role in building his self-esteem and confidence.

The trip's focus was a transect of the Himalaya and Karakorum Mountains from south of Islamabad to the Chinese border, principally along the Karakorum Highway (KKH).

According to Professor Jean-Pierre Burg, this is possibly the best readily available section across the Himalayas and includes the major subduction related thrust zones, the Main Karakorum Thrust (MKT), the Main Mantle Thrust (MMT) and the Main Boundary Thrust (MBT).

Also of particular interest are the calc-alkaline granitoids of the Karakorum Batholith and their deformation.
